The Nova Hybrid conforms very closely to support the spine and alleviate pressure points. Youll sink deeply beneath the surface as the plush comfort foam molds to your body, which may be beneficial if you weigh 230 pounds or less and/or sleep on your side. However, back and stomach sleepers particularly those who weigh more than 230 pounds will likely find the mattress too soft.
Other strengths of the Nova Hybrid include excellent motion isolation and consistent temperature neutrality. However, the mattress may sink a bit too much around the edges, which makes getting in and out of bed difficult for some people. The Nova Hybrid is one of Caspers softest mattresses, so you should research other models from this brand such as the Casper Original or Casper Hybrid if you want a firmer feel for your bed.

Who its for: Caspers softest offering is made for side-sleepers and those who like a cuddly-plush mattress without the slow sink of memory foam. It may work for people of most weights, but it might feel more supportive and last longer for those who weigh less than 200 pounds.
How it feels: The all-foam Casper Nova and Casper Nova Hybrid are medium-soft, verging on truly soft. Because neither the Nova nor the Nova Hybrid contains memory foam, the mattresses dont hug but rather offer a deep-cradling feel, reminiscent of a thick, plush pillow. I tested, at home, the Nova Hybrid, which has a layer of springs that adds the slightest touch of buoyancy. We havent yet tested the all-foam Nova, which is sold only at select partner retailers, including Amazon, but not on Caspers site.
What we like: The Casper Nova Hybrid is the softest mattress weve tested in either the foam or hybrid category, and we were pleased to discover how sturdy it feltlike a denser marshmallow-soft rather than a wiggly Jell-O soft. We think its several degrees softer and fluffier than the Casper Wave Hybrid. The 12-inch bed offers four layers . Both models have three layers of dense polyfoam the middle layer is zoned. The all-foam Nova has a final base layer of 1.8-pounds-per-cubic-foot foam, while the Nova Hybrid has a bottom layer of support coils.

This sleep position unlike back sleeping does not promote spinal alignment as readily, and this can lead to pressure points throughout the body. Beds that conform closely to cushion the shoulders and hips can improve your alignment and alleviate pressure in the process.
Combination Sleepers
If youre a combo sleeper who sometimes rests on your stomach, then theres a good chance the Nova Hybrid will sag too much. If youve unpacked your memory foam mattress in a box correctly and its not expanded to its full shape and size after 72 hours then heres what you should do:
Roll around on it slowly for 10 30 minutes.
The movement combined with your body heat should help the memory foam to loosen up which may help the mattress to decompress fully.
I dont recommend standing on the mattress because this sort of focused weight may do some damage to the memory foam such as causing indentations.
If the rolling technique hasnt worked then sleeping on it for a few nights might do the trick.
Since it can take a few days or weeks for the memory foam to adjust to your body weight and shape anyway.
But if your mattress is nowhere near being fully expanded and you have NOT left it inside the box for longer than is recommended by the manufacturer then you may have a defective memory foam mattress.
In such a case, you should check the warranty to see if you qualify for a replacement.
Can I Sleep On My Casper Mattress Right Away

Casper Mattress Sleep Test
The unboxing is only part of the process, the main important detail is what is it like to sleep on? We set up our bed at 9 pm and by 10:30 pm we packed up for bed. Even though it was only an hour and a half out of the vacuum packing the mattress felt soooo good. It felt soft on the top but firm and supportive as you laid on it.
We had been used to a pocket sprung mattress with a memory foam top. As Casper is fully foam based, it does feel different. Different in a good way. A traditional mattress has an arrangement of stitched buttons and stripes on top. However, the surface of the Casper Mattress is smooth, with a slight waffle pattern on the top. This gives it a much smoother feel when lying on it.
It is quieter than our old pocket sprung mattress. The occasional ping or groan of the springs is eliminated as there are no springs. Finally, I also noticed less movement in the mattress. What I mean here is as Catherine gets in and out of bed, the mattress isnt moving like a taught trampoline. The right sides motion seems to soften the left sides movements.
We slept on the mattress for 10 nights before writing this review. Thinking that it would take some adjustment to the new feel. In reality, we had the best night sleep for a long time on the first night. Each following night we slept all the way to the alarm and didnt want to get up.

The Nova Hybrid provides decent temperature neutrality thanks to its comfort layers of open-cell polyfoam. This material is breathable and will not absorb too much body heat. The coil system also allows air to flow throughout the interior, which helps the entire bed maintain a comfortable temperature. However, people who weigh more than 230 pounds will sink more beneath the surface, and this can cause them to feel excessively warm.
What Is A Boxed Mattress
A boxed mattress is usually a foam mattress that has been vacuum packed and rolled to save on storage and delivery space. They have been marketed as NextGen and given different fancy covers. However, in reality, all of these mattresses are variations of the basic memory foam layered mattress. There are a few exceptions such as Herdy but in effect, they are layers of foam, glued together then crushed & rolled to fit into a box. At John Ryan, we dont sell any rolled mattresses. Our mattresses wouldnt fit and we wouldnt subject them to the damages of being rolled and crushed. We did some tests when rolled mattresses entered the market, more on that later.

The mattress enters a big roller which crushes the air out of the foam reducing its size drastically, putting it under stress it is then sealed in a bag, usually heat sealed, and then boxed. It means that a normally large sized mattress can be reduced to fit more on a lorry and make delivery easier for the customer.
However, these mattresses are under great stress when in this position. They want to return to their regular shape and are constrained. Foam can tear, springs can deform and fabric can become stretched and rippled when you unroll them.
