Other strengths of the Nova Hybrid include excellent motion isolation and consistent temperature neutrality. Im not going to talk about how it stacks up against Purple, Tuft & Needle, or other new-school mattress companies. I can read the spec chart as well as anyone, but I cant testify to their actual differences.
Im speaking purely from personal experience. But in my defense, I always do my homework and Im pretty damn opinionated about products. Also, my satisfaction with Casper seems to be in good company amongst the mattress nerds.
It’s not a firm mattress. It’s not a soft mattress. It’s just the right mattress for meand very likely, for you as well.
The full-size only cost a little more than my iPhone. And I don’t rely on that to keep my vertebrae in place, do I? Some things are worth investing in, and spine alignment is up there.

As with any feel factor, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending on ones body size, shape, and weight. So, my read of this beds firmness could differ from your own. For reference, Im about 510, 190 lbs. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.
After laying on the Casper Hybrid for a while, I decided to give it a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, which lines up perfectly with the industry standard for medium firmness.
This bed got a 6.5 from me because I think it strikes a really nice balance between pressure relief and support. The combination of foams and pocketed coils ensures that you get just enough softness to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips without causing them to dip out of alignment with the rest of the body. This medium-firm vibe could work well for many types of sleepers, but Id particularly recommend it to back or combo sleepers, both of whom should benefit from the beds buoyant lift.
Id also note that the Casper Hybrid has a zoned support memory foam comfort layer. This means its firmer at the hips and softer at the feet and shoulders. This structure helps provide lumbar support and promotes a healthy, straight spinal alignment. This top layer is resilient and has a good bounce that returns to original form. It also gives a softer feel without sinking in due to elasticity in the foam. It is also breathable and will help reduce the feeling of overheating.
*This top layer has replaced the Dunlop latex that was in previous generations of Casper mattresses and tries to use a less expensive material to get the same benefits, but may lack some of the quality that was in the original latex.
Next is a layer of memory foam that conforms to a persons body. As well as helps in relieving pressure points to reduce tossing and turning. This makes the mattress a little more comfortable for side sleeping.
The third layer is a layer of transitional poly foam. This layer adds deep comfort and distributes weight evenly. This is the last layer of comfort before the base foam. And makes a great transition between the top layers and foundation.

The base layer is made of dense poly foam and provides the foundation and durability of the mattress. The base foam is a solid foam and shouldnt allow for any bottoming out. As well as provides the necessary support for the other layers to do their jobs.
