Do we recommend it? Probably not.
Who its for: The Casper Wave Hybrid, Caspers most expensive mattress, should appeal to people who sleep in any position, and it seems likely to last through the warranty for those weighing less than 200 pounds. We tried the previous version of the all-foam Wave in 2019 if the updated model is similar, as the company says it is, it should also appeal to sleepers of all positions. The Wave is sold only by partner retailers, including Amazon and Wayfair.
How it feels: The Wave Hybrid feels medium-firm, landing somewhere between the firmer Original and Original Hybrid and the softer Nova Hybrid. I found the Wave Hybrid foamy yet resilient. We havent tried the updated version of the all-foam Wave, and helpful online feedback was scant at the time we looked, but we expect it to feel just a tad firmer than the Wave Hybrid.
What we like: The all-foam Wave packs five layers into 13 inches. Like the Original, its topped with a dense non-memory-foam polyurethane foam. But instead of having memory foam directly underneath, it has a layer of SonoCore synthetic latex, atop a base layer of polyfoam. The Wave Hybrid is similar in build, but instead of the foam, it has coils.
The Wave offers an unusual sleep sensation, though wed recommend it only if youre not happy sleeping on anything else and you also have a very flexible budget .

Pressure relief refers to a beds ability to alleviate tension at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This is an important measure for all sleepers, but especially those who struggle with pain at night. To demonstrate the Caspers pressure relief, Ill be testing it out with a pressure map.
Basically, it works like this: I roll out the device, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records how much force Im exerting on the mattress, creating a colored map of the pressure. For reference, blue/green indicates areas of low pressure and orange/red indicates areas of high pressure. The results below will help me determine if the Casper is a good choice for relieving pain!
Back Pain These results tell me the Casper would be great for relieving pain, especially at the lower back. The zoned support foams offer extra support that does a great job keeping your hips boosted up in line with your shoulders, which is one of the keys to avoiding back pain. How Firm Is The Casper Mattress
Now that weve got a solid overview of the Casper mattress, lets talk about how it feels, starting with firmness.
Like any feel factor, firmness is quite subjective, and can change a lot depending on ones body type and preferred sleeping positions. Therefore, my read of this beds firmness could very well differ from your own.
When I first pushed into the Casper and sat on it, I thought it felt pretty soft. However, after laying down and rolling around on the bed, it felt firmer to me as it lifted me up and offered me support. Because of this, I decided to give the Casper a 7 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, this bed is slightly firm.
The mattress got a 7 from me because I think its got a firmly supportive feel. Though the foam materials are soft to the touch and provide some nice relief at the shoulders and hips, the overall design works to lift the sleeper up and out of the structure. This creates more of an on top of the bed feel, which could work great for back and combination sleepers.
I also want to mention that the Casper is zoned for support. This means it uses firmer foams at the lower back for extra lift, and softer foams at the shoulders for extra cushion around those pressure points. This combo is especially nice for any sleepers suffering from lower back or shoulder pain, because it will help keep the spine in a healthy alignment without creating stiffness in the shoulder area.

Complaints about Caspers cost are surprising given that the Casper Original retails for just over $1,000 in the Queen size. That being said, its important to understand that people evaluate the cost based on how well a product performs against their expectations. Overall, we think the Casper is fairly priced for customers who understand that its designed to be a comfortable, accommodating mattress: not the best mattress theyve ever slept on.

We found the Casper Original mattress to have a Medium Firm softness level. If you prefer a feeling of floating above your mattress as opposed to sinking deeply into it, you may find the Casper bed appealing. In our tests, we found the Casper bed to offer very good support and spinal alignment, particularly for those who sleep primarily on their backs and/or stomach. Hips sunk into the mattress just enough to create a neutral spinal position, and our tester felt the mattress reaching up to support his lumbar area.
The original Casper mattress also excelled in our tests for ease of repositioning. Changing sleeping positions was virtually effortless for our tester, so if you tend to move around a lot while sleeping, the Casper mattress deserves close consideration. Motion isolation was also good this can be a concern if you are bothered by movements of a partner, kids or pets on the other side of the bed.
