Radnor-based FXI, a supplier to North American home furnishings providers, recently completed a merger with Innocor, an innovative comfort technology solutions provider.

The combined company will operate under the FXI name and will offer products to several industries, including acoustics, bedding, filtration, furniture, healthcare, and transportation.

Apollo Gets In Bed With Fxi To Bid On Foam

Leon Blacks Apollo Global Management is teaming up with a foam maker in a bid for foam-bed maker Innocor, two sources close to the situation told The Post.

FXI, the company Apollo is getting in bed with, was formerly known as Foamex.

The auction for Innocor, which generates $100 million in Ebitda and is expected to sell for up to $800 million, is also attracting other big-name private equity firms, sources said.

Bain Capital, the owner of Bobs Discount Furniture, is on the hunt, too, sources said.

Arsenal Capital Partners is interested as well, sources said. One Arsenal partner used to be chief executive of Foamex.

West Long Branch, NJ-based Innocor is taking final bids next week, sources said.

Innocor makes foam beds for the likes of Costco, Sams Club and Kohls, and provides foam for bed makers.

Black was head of mergers at Drexel Burnham Lambert in the 1980s when he helped Marshall Cogan buy Foamex from Firestone Rubber.

Later, after Drexel collapsed, Black formed Apollo and took a major stake in Cogans then-publicly listed Foamex.

Foamex in September 2005 filed for bankruptcy, and has since renamed itself FXI.

Apollo believes combining FXI and Innocor will help it gain scale and improve profits, a source said.

Sun Capital owns Innocor and declined comment.

Apollo and Bain declined comment. FXI could not be reached for comment.

Firmness Do You Buy A Special Mattress For Adjustable Beds

After having a look at the construction of the Zotto, lets chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by using light hand pressure to the mattress and found that I quickly sank into the soft top layers. These areas changed snuggly around my hand and supplied quality pressure relief. Pushing in further, I didnt actually feel much bounce from this mattress, simply the enjoyable body contouring of the memory foam.

As you can see in the graph above, my testers were basically in agreement about the firmness of the Zotto, providing it a typical rating of 6.6. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, its clear this bed is relatively firm.

I personally offered the bed a 6, experiencing it as just a bit softer than a normal, medium firm bed. My ranking was influenced primarily by the soft foam leading layers, which produce some fantastic pressure-relieving sinkage and body contouring. While the firmer base layers do work to support the sleeper, I d still say this bed is best suited for those who like to seem like theyre sleeping in their mattress.

Now that weve taken a closer take a look at the Zotto mattress, its time to discuss who it d be an excellent fit for.

Summary

The Zotto mattress has a somewhat softer feel, extremely excellent cooling, and excellent assistance. Coming in at a 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale , the Zottos 4 layers of foam combine to develop an overall well created bed mattress.

How Is The Allswell Mattress Made

A simple design is sometimes the best, at least thats the case with the Allswell mattress.

There are only three layers to the Allswell mattress. The bottom layer features individually-wrapped coils. These coils work on a variety of levels. Not only do they provide some airflow, which creates a cooling effect so youre not overheating at night, but they provide some firm support to your body and limit whats called motion transfer. If your partner gets up in the middle of the night, these coils will minimize the amount of movement that you feel so you wont be awakened. This bottom layer also has edge support on two sides that prevents you from falling off the bed if you move a lot at night.
