Mattresses require an adjustment period to get used to, and that’s true of the Layla Hybrid, too, but as soon as I plopped down on this mattress, I knew it was going to be my favorite. It’s made of a layered combination of gel memory foam, airflow support foam and individually wrapped pocketed coils that provide plenty of firmness level support while also allowing enough give to make the mattress feel plush and comfortable right away.
The middle layer is made from copper-infused foam, which is great for a hot sleeper because it is designed to pull heat away from your body so you stay cool while you sleep, and the technology worked impressively well. I stayed cool throughout the night, even in the middle of summer in a house without central AC. The copper is also antimicrobial, so it helps prevent a buildup of bacteria that can cause breakdown and odors over time. I haven’t had the mattress long enough to speak to that, but the thought of sleeping on a cleaner mattress, especially since the goal is to keep them for a , adds another layer of appeal.
The Layla Hybrid comes in twin to California king sizes and prices range from $1,099 to $1,699.

Faqs About Innerspring Mattress
How do I know if innerspring mattresses are good for me?
Memory foam mattresses are in trend. And they rightly should be enjoying these top positions, because they are such great performers in providing the comfy cushy sleeping experience. But despite the memory foam mattresses surge, innerspring mattresses are still in action.
Because they provide you cooler sleeping experience. They provide lots of bounces and a low-temperature feeling. They are more durable and last for as long as 10-years.
So, if you live in a hot region, and want some cool sleeping experience, go with innerspring mattresses.
How long do innerspring mattresses last?
The coils or springs encased in the mattress can wear down with the passage of time. They lose their bounce feeling or spring back to their full potential or original height. When this starts to happen, the mattress can go dip or feel sag.
So, as per the users experience, and as per experts, they can easily last 6-10 years.
How much does an innerspring mattress cost?
Well, the general rule of thumb applies here too. The more you spend, the quality product you will be able to get hands-on.
But on average, innerspring mattresses are not that expensive compared to memory foam mattresses which can easily cost around 3000-4000 dollars. Innerspring mattresses, on the other hand, costs around 1000 dollars less or more.
Whats the difference between pocket coils and innerspring?
Eve Sleep Premium Hybrid
- Sizes available: Double, king, super king
- Mattress depth: 28cm
- Material: Memory foam and springs
- Trial period: 100 nights
- Guarantee: 10 years
This extra-deep, vacuum-packed hybrid mattress is next level, in our opinion, especially when it comes to people who sleep at least part of the night on their backs and, unlike the Emma hybrid that goes for folk of any shape and size. This is particularly good news for tall and/or overweight back sleepers, for whom no other mattress came close in our tests.
The durability is outstanding, so it should last you longer than other mattresses. It also gets 10 out of 10 from us on breathability, comfort and support, being just slightly firmer than medium. Eve says its down to the combination of special layers and years of product development, focus groups and testing. The top provides a comfy lift, followed by a contouring memory foam layer, then a firmer foam support layer and a sturdy foam base layer that also encloses full-sized pocket springs. You wont disturb your partner when you roll over and the cover is washable. It does smell a bit at first, but not for long, and no mattress scored higher for edge to edge support.

Should You Buy A Mattress
There are some advantages to buying your mattress-in-a-box online. As well as being a cheaper, and much more convenient, almost all brands let you assess the mattress after purchasing. If you don’t like it you can return it for a refund making the purchase more or less risk free, and there’s no pressure to buy.
Stores, meanwhile, involve a lot more pressure. Sales people hover, you’re unlikely to get more than five minutes on the bed before they come back to bother you. You can’t change your mind once it’s used, there’s generally no trial period and our test results found that sales practices are often on the shady side .
That said, you can only try before you buy in-store. Sure, mattress-in-a-box brands have a trial period but sending it back can be a big hassle. Also, stores offer a much larger range from multiple brands under one roof which makes direct comparison much easier, and they typically stock multiple materials and builds such as spring, memory foam and latex. You have a clearly defined point of return if something is faulty and, most importantly, you can haggle.
Online-only mattress-in-a-box brands require a lot of consumer faith. You have to hope the product lives up to its claims and there’s no way to try it without laying down your hard earned cash. Plus, most mattress-in-a-box models are made of foam, with very few spring or hybrid options around. If foam isn’t your thing, then you’re options are very limited.

Buying The Right Size Mattress For Your Bed Frame
Always check the internal dimensions of your bedframe before you buy a mattress to fit inside it. Youll need a small amount of space around the mattress to be able to tuck in sheets and blankets, but you dont want the gaps to be excessive which may cause the mattress to move during the night, says Williams.

Emma Original: The Best Memory Foam Mattress For Couples
Price: From £449 | Buy now from Emma
As well as being highly practical it has both a removable top cover and carry handles we found the Emma Original exceedingly comfortable to sleep on. Indeed, despite feeling relatively soft, it offers superb levels of support throughout the night and is better suited to side sleepers than some of its firmer bed-in-a-box rivals such as Eve.
That said, the Emma Original is a versatile mattress that makes for a comfortable night’s sleep regardless of whether you sleep on your front, back or side. It’s this versatility that makes it a perfect choice for couples who are struggling to compromise on firmness. As is typical of foam mattresses, it can feel warm but the Emma Original does a good job of wicking away sweat so we never woke feeling damp and clammy.

Which Is Better: Memory Foam Or Spring Mattresses
Theres no one-size-fits-all answer to whether memory foam or spring mattresses are better. They both have pros and cons. Memory foam is excellent at contouring your body, providing pressure relief and isolating motion. Memory foam also has a sinking feeling that makes you feel like youre settling into the mattress, rather lying on top of it. Some people like that and some dont. One downside to memory foam is that it can trap heat, so if youre a hot sleeper, you may need additional cooling technology or a hybrid mattress.
Spring mattresses are bouncier than memory foam and dont offer the same motion isolation, but you dont sink into them. If you prefer the feeling of lying on top of your mattress and you sleep alone, youll probably like a spring mattress better than memory foam. Spring mattresses also have better air circulation so they dont trap heat as much, and they tend to offer more edge-to-edge support.
If youre torn on which type of mattress you should get, a hybrid modelwhich combines memory foam with springsis probably your best bet.

How We Independently Test Mattresses
Not only does no one else test mattresses like us, but were also totally independent, so you can have complete confidence in our results.
If you tend to sleep on your back, a good mattress will keep your spine in the same shape as when youre standing. So, we measure the shape of a person’s body at 36 different points when standing, and then again when lying on their back on the mattresses, to see how well they compare.
To test how well a mattress supports your back, we analyse the shape of a person’s spine at 36 different points
If youre a side-sleeper, your spine should be parallel to the mattress, so we use a laser to measure the angle of a person’s spine relative to the bed.
Are you a front sleeper? We also measure the spine a third time to assess how supportive each mattress is for people who prefer to lie on their front.
After simulating several years of use by rolling a heavy barrel over the mattress thousands of times, we then repeat the body-support tests to see whether the mattress becomes less supportive over time.
Thats not all. With our results, you can see how breathable a mattress is, how easy it is for you to turn over on and how stable it is. If youre a light sleeper, you should try to buy a mattress with five stars for stability. These are the best at absorbing bounces, so youll be less likely to be disturbed when your partner rolls over or gets up in the night.
