Pillow top, plush top, and double pillow tops are where it starts to get tricky. The mattress is sewn with a top and bottom edge seam. If you were to measure the distance between these two seams to determine the depth, you would be wrong.

Your room will typically be larger than 10 feet across, so you may need a longer tape measure, but 10 feet will cover the footprint of the structure and enough space for you to walk and crawl comfortably. The dimensions of a king-size bed are generally 76 inches wide and 80 inches long. Consider drawing a quick pencil sketch on white paper or graph paper as a reference. Then, double-check the specs. Can You Make Two Twin Beds Into A King

Pushing two twin size mattresses will leave you with a mattress that is five inches shorter than a King. Twin XL mattresses will work for this purpose since theyre just as long as a standard king.

How Do You Measure A Mattress For A Fitted Sheet

Once your mattress is completely bare of bedding, use a tape measure or flexible ruler to measure from the widest point of the mattress on its sides. After you obtain the measurements for its length and width, measure the mattresss depth to get an idea of how deep a pocket your fitted sheets will need.

Do you have a mattress topper? You will have to add its depth to the mattresss height since the fitted sheet will slip over both the topper and mattress.
