Whats It Like To Unbox The Purple Mattress
The Purple mattress was a special challenge when it came to unboxing. You might think: What could possibly go wrong for someone who has opened at least 10 mattresses-in-a-box? Apparently a lot.
The Purple mattress arrives in a big sleeve thats not difficult to work with or move. In fact, its packaging had better handles than many of the mattresses Ive moved. Though I was perplexed about what to do with the sleeve after unfurling the mattress, seeing as it was made of that cheap, thick plastic that clear raincoats are made of . Its not that other brands offer super sustainable packagingits just easier to take a piece of cardboard and know that you can toss it in the recycle bin.
The real problem came when I started freeing the thing from its secondary plastic cocoon . Ill forewarn you: The issues I had may be largely attributable to user errorthe world will never know for sure. I began unrolling the plastic and watched the mattress scooch around the room. A few minutes in, it looked like a sad roll of saran wrap that was torn somewhere, causing it to unroll in thin strips. Eventually, the plastic caught up with itself and unrolled uniformly.
Moving it was another beast. I move a lot of mattresses, but between just unrolling it in the office and moving it onto the bed frame we have on-site, I knew this one would be a problem. In terms of difficulty, it certainly came through.
Who I Dont Recommend The Purple Mattress For
- I wouldnt recommend this bed to heavy people. I dont think the Purple has enough support for anyone over about 250 lb. If thats you, Id recommend checking out ourbest mattress for heavy people roundup, which has tons of super supportive beds.
- This mattress isnt firm enough for strict stomach sleepers. These sleepers need afirm mattress to prevent their hips from sinking out of line with their shoulders.

Ill begrudgingly admit: I was wrong about the Purple Mattress. It blew me away. Id love to write it off as a luxury mattress thats not worth the hype or pricebut I think for many, it will be a good investment.
Im not sure Id go as far as saying that the polymer is as one-of-a-kind as the company would like people to believe. After sleeping on 10 mattresses and counting in the past year I can tell you that it doesnt feel all that differentaside from its tremendous ability to keep cool. The mattress is comfortable, certainly. But if it were placed in a room of other mattresses covered in sheets, Id probably think the Purple mattress was made of firm foam.
While its not likely worth the hype for everyone, I also dont think its misplaced. This is undeniably a good bed. If you like a firm mattress and are in the market for something that will keep you cool no matter how hot it gets outside, Purple is more than worth a close look.

Both Zoma and Purple offer comparable sleep trials. You have a standard 100-night sleep trial to test out their mattresses. Purple requires you to try their beds out for at least 21 days to ensure your body has had a chance to adjust, while Zoma asks you keep the mattress for at least 30 nights.
Zoma and Purple also offer a 10-year warranty with every mattress, the usual length in the mattress industry. However, there is a notable difference in how much coverage each company provides.
Zoma will repair or replace any mattress that sags beyond 0.75 inches, while Purple only offers coverage on visible indentations that exceed 1 inch. A quarter of an inch difference may not sound like a lot, but its enough to impact whether you get a good nights rest.

Well, we face a common question regarding nectar mattress. People ask can I sleep on my nectar right away? Well, when we slept on our back, all the layers of memory foam comforted each curve of the body. The base layer also gave good support along with the lumber.
When we slept on our sides, we felt a slight pressure on the shoulders and hips. But thats definitely not too much of an uncomforting. However, the experience may vary depending on larger or lighter sleepers.
