The response of the Tempurpedic Legacy was about average for memory foam mattresses. By no means was the mattress snapping right back to its original shape, but it did not take long for the foams to completely restore themselves. After placing all of my weight on the mattress, I saw an average response time of ~3 seconds.

Bounce, as expected, was quite low. The memory foam and relative softness of the Tempurpedic Legacy mattress means that much of the energy is absorbed and dissipated without creating much of a bounce rebound.

Finally, motion transfer. Once again, the memory foam build and medium-soft firmness level created a lower level of bounce, meaning less motion transfer. The top two layers of memory foam were able to absorb almost all of the energy being transferred across the mattress. By dissipating the motion before it made its way across the mattress, partners are able to remain undisturbed if one or the other gets in and out of bed.

Beyond my personal feelings on the motion transfer, I also use an accelerometer to objectively measure motion transfer. The following graphic shows the testing data. For these tests I drop a 12 pound medicine ball from heights of 6, 18, and 24, and use an accelerometer placed on the other side of the mattress to measure movement.
