Take advantage of the Free Shred-Fest, Mulch Giveaway, and Recycling Event at the Victor Valley Materials Recovery Facility on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event will feature free document shredding, a mulch and compost giveaway, E-waste and appliance disposal, and free mattress and box spring recycling. All activities are FREE and open to residents of the High Desert. The Victor Valley MRF is located at 17000 Abbey Ln. in Victorville, just off of Stoddard Wells Road.
Free Shred-Fest: High Desert residents can bring up to four banker boxes of paper documents to be shredded. All Purpose Document Destruction will have a truck on site, so residents can watch their documents get shredded.
Free Mulch and Compost Giveaway: Area residents can pick up free mulch during the event. Residents need to bring their own bins for compost to be loaded into. Burrtec employees will load the bins. The limit is 50 gallons per resident.
Free Drop-off of TVs, Computers, Appliances, Scrap Metal, and E-Waste: Area residents and businesses can drop off TVs, computers, scrap metal, and appliances for free during the event.

The City of Yucaipa has an exclusive franchise agreement with Yucaipa Disposal for the collection and handling of solid waste, recycling, and green waste within the City. Pursuant to Yucaipa Municipal Code , Title 8 of Chapter 8.28, all property within the City is required to subscribe to refuse collection and handling services. The program is designed to collect trash, recyclables, and green waste and to assist the City in meeting mandated AB 939 diversion goals established by the State of California. Pursuant to Yucaipa Municipal Code, Chapter 8.28, solid waste collection and recycling service is mandatory in the City of Yucaipa.
Residents receive one time per week collection of trash, recyclables and green waste. Residential service is mandatory and based on single-family home waste generation. Low volume trash generators can benefit from a smaller 15 gallon trash barrel and a reduced solid waste and recycling bill. Our local businesses have been recycling their organic waste over the past year as required by Assembly Bill 1826, and with an outstanding 99% participation rate!
Residential organic waste recycling, except in gated communities, became effective on November 1, 2022. Residents in gated communities will not begin this program until Spring of 2023.

The good news at Sun City Shadow Hills is that Burrtec, our trash contractor, makes getting rid of stuff as easy as a phone call. Burrtec provides a Bulky Item Pick-Up service. To use this service simply call Burrtec at least 48 hours prior to regular pick-up at 340-2113.
Once you have called, you may place up to four bulky items at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, our regular trash day. This service is free to residents.

Holiday Tree Collection Program
Burrtec will collect all natural undecorated trees placed at the curbside, for up to two weeks after December 25th. All tinsel, ornaments, and support stands must be removed and trees over six feet must be cut in half. Artificial trees are not accepted. This is a free program.
