Twin Xl Mattresses For Adjustable Bed Frames
Another reason a couple may choose two Twin XL mattresses instead of a King size is for use on an adjustable bed. An adjustable bed frame has mechanical components that allow the head and/or the foot of the bed to incline, together or separately. This is helpful for people who need to sleep inclined for medical reasons, or just like to be comfortable while they read or watch TV in bed. If you have a queen mattress that you use with an adjustable bed frame, both people have to be at the same level of incline or flat at the same time. However, if you choose a split King adjustable bed frame, you can place two Twin XL mattresses on it and each partner can incline or lay flat as they wish without disturbing the other partner. Our Twin XL organic latex mattresses work great on adjustable bed frames as the structure of organic latex is flexible and can flex and move as the adjustable frame inclines and declines. We also have some organic pocket coil mattresses that also work on an adjustable bed frame.

Two twin beds will equal about 78 inches in width. This is a lot larger than a queen sized mattress, which is only 60 inches wide. A queen is also longer than a twin, so if you attempt to put a queen sized sheet onto two twin sized beds, you will have a situation where the sheets are too narrow, but also too long.

Extra Additions And Ideas
As an addition, a mattress pad might be a good idea. It gave new life to the older mattresses, so it might help disguise the bed bridge. Additionally, with a thick mattress pad, king size sheets fit perfectly on the mattresses without having too much slack. So the thick pad works for two main purposes: the bed will be comfier and helps the sheets fit better, remember the 5 inches extra..
Finally, compensate for the short length of regular mattresses with an upholstered headboard. Just pulled the mattresses all the way down to the end and then put the headboard there.

How To Convert Two Twin Beds To A King
KING SIZED PLATFORM
Place a rubber non-skid rug pad on top of the metal platform before adding a bedskirt and mattresses. Initially I placed the bedskirt right on top of this frame, but we soon realized the bedskirt on top of the metal is too slippery after the new bed was slept on, the mattresses would slide a few inches away from the headboard!
I took the mattresses and bedskirt off, placed the rug pad on top of the platform, THEN added the bedskirt and put the mattresses back on. I used a 6×9 rug pad and just cut it to fit after it was on the platform. The rug pad has worked great, no more mattress trying to escape onto the floor!!
FOAM BED BRIDGE
Fill the gap between the two twin mattresses with a foam bed bridge. This was the part that made me hesitant about converting two twins to a king. How could this be comfortable??? After reading lots of reviews I bought this one, and honestly, it is not going to make the top of your bed completely seamless but it fills the gap pretty well. It does create a very mild raised area in the middle of the bed but its not uncomfortable. Here are a few opinions on it:
PILLOW TOP MATTRESS PAD
I strongly suggest investing in a pillow top mattress pad. You may recall my post for Project Design on How To Make A Beautiful Bed where I shared my love for our thick mattress enhancer. It gave new life to our older mattress so I figured it might help disguise the bed bridge, and it seems to be doing the trick!

Higher price tags for split bedding come as a direct result of availability. Because theyre harder to find, retailers can charge more for a split model compared to the same exact bed in a model that isnt split. On top of availability, they also generally use more material and they take more time to create.
Yes, split mattresses are generally more expensive. But if you choose a split-latex mattress made by Sleeping Organic, it will cost the same as any other bed of the same dimensions! This gives you all the benefits of a split model, without the extra cost.
Gap Down The Middle
Customers with questions about split mattresses almost always ask about space between the twin twin XL beds that come together to create a split king mattress. Can I feel the gap in a split mattress? Will it affect my sleep? Will I notice the seam between the two sides of the bed? And while these are great questions, our answer is generally no.

How To Make A King Out Of Two Twin Mattresses
Whether you want to make a true King bed or a short King with two Twins, there are some things you should consider.
4. For extra comfort, get a mattress pad or a topper . Mattress pads are soft and they typically feel like having a couple of soft blankets between you and the mattress. Toppers are thicker and have a specific purpose they are either made to make your mattress firmer or softer. Either way, both a pad and a topper can help disguise the raised middle part of the bed.
5. Compensate for the shorter mattresses. If you use two regular Twin mattresses on a King frame, youll end up with some extra space on one side. Push your mattresses to the bottom, and leave the empty frame space in the head area. Then add an upholstered headboard. If youre a DIY person, you can make one. If you use two Twin XLs, no need to fill in the space since youll have a true King-sized bed. Still, that shouldnt stop you from adding a headboard if you like the idea of having one.

Fix the bridge with the help of a belt and fill the gap to have an even surface between the 2 beds.
We recommend using the bed bridge converting kit from Bedia as it is a full kit that includes both the bridge to connect the twin beds and the strap to
While this first step is not mandatory, it is definitely recommended as it fills the gap, makes both beds connected to each other, and eventually makes you feel more comfortable while sleeping.
