What If Your Memory Foam Mattress Is Not Inflating Fully
The longer that you leave your memory foam mattress in its box the longer it will probably take to expand to its full size.
If youve unpacked your memory foam mattress in a box correctly and its not expanded to its full shape and size after 72 hours then heres what you should do:
Roll around on it slowly for 10 30 minutes.
The movement combined with your body heat should help the memory foam to loosen up which may help the mattress to decompress fully.
I dont recommend standing on the mattress because this sort of focused weight may do some damage to the memory foam such as causing indentations.
If the rolling technique hasnt worked then sleeping on it for a few nights might do the trick.
Since it can take a few days or weeks for the memory foam to adjust to your body weight and shape anyway.
But if your mattress is nowhere near being fully expanded and you have NOT left it inside the box for longer than is recommended by the manufacturer then you may have a defective memory foam mattress.
In such a case, you should check the warranty to see if you qualify for a replacement.

Casper 2018 Mattress Motion Transfer And Responsiveness
If your partner happens to move around a lot in their sleep , I think youll be happy with Caspers lack of motion transfer.
In our can test, it performed extremely well. We placed a can at one end of the bed and started rolling/walking on the other end, and we barely noticed any cross-motion movement. The bed strikes a nice balance between providing a slight bounce yet isolating motion completely.
When it comes to responsiveness, the Casper mattress also performs pretty well here. Again, its not the fastest mattress weve tested as far as regaining its initial shape after releasing pressure or getting up off the bed, but its still decently quick.
That open-cell top layer definitely adds a little bounce as opposed to just having traditional memory foam on top that can sometimes take an extra second or two to regain its form.
Bottom line: All this means is that youll find it easy to switch between sleeping positions. Sometimes with mattresses that respond slowly, youll find that it requires extra effort to switch from your back to your stomach or vice versa, which can make you more restless throughout the night.
What Do The Casper And Casper Hybrid Mattresses Feel Like
The all-foam Casper mattress has a very bouncy, responsive foam feel. Its easy to move around on top of this mattress.
The Casper Hybrid has a very similar feel to the Casper, but with even more bounce thanks to the coils. Its comfort layers also feel a touch softer than on the Casper, so it provides just a bit more pressure relief.

How Firm Is The Casper Mattress
Now that weve got a solid overview of the Casper mattress, lets talk about how it feels, starting with firmness.
Like any feel factor, firmness is quite subjective, and can change a lot depending on ones body type and preferred sleeping positions. Therefore, my read of this beds firmness could very well differ from your own. For reference, Im about 510, 190 lbs. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.
After rolling around on the bed, I decided to give the Casper a 7 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, its clear that this bed is slightly firm.
The mattress got a 7 from me because I think its got a firmly supportive feel. Though the foam materials are soft to the touch and provide some nice relief at the shoulders and hips, the overall design works to lift the sleeper up and out of the structure. This creates more of an on top of the bed feel, which could work great for back and combination sleepers.
I also want to mention that the Casper is zoned for support. This means it uses firmer foams at the lower back for extra lift, and softer foams at the shoulders for extra cushion around those pressure points. This combo is especially nice for any sleepers suffering from lower back or shoulder pain, because it will help keep the spine in a healthy alignment without creating stiffness in the shoulder area.
How Long Can I Leave My Casper Mattress In The Box
Lets say that you cant immediately unbox your Casper mattress upon arrival. You can feel at ease that the bed wont lose its structure being left inside the box for a month. However, do note that the 30-night sleep trial starts once your bed is delivered.

How Good Is The Cover
The cover of the Casper Hybrid is made of 99% polyester and 1% elastane. This makes it quite breathable which is very important. The elastane helps the cover stay in place and improves the fit. Its very similar to the Casper Original cover. The design follows a two-tone scheme with the top part being white and with the sides featuring a beautiful jeans-like fabric. They have also placed 4 handles that will help you when you want to transfer the mattress.
The sleeping surface feels nice and relatively soft. The whole cover seems well constructed and I think it will last for long. If you want to clean it then you can remove it and machine-wash it at 40 degrees. Overall, I loved the cover as its both practical and beautiful.

Casper Topper Materials And Construction
Weve had several memory foam toppers and one neutral-foam topper come through our doors here at The Slumber Yard, but latex toppers are somewhat rare to see. This topper is also constructed with three layers, another unique trait we dont see too often.

What they could tell us though, was the foams are hypoallergenic and Certi-PUR certified. That means they were made without mercury, lead, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP . Theyre also constructed with tiny holes for enhanced airflow, which is another feature that helps prevent overheating.

The Warranty Could Be Voided
Its possible that leaving your memory foam mattress inside the box for longer than the manufacturer recommends could end up voiding the warranty in some cases.
This could be an issue both in the long term and the short term.
For example, if you have a defective mattress that wouldnt have expanded fully anyway you might not be able to get a replacement because the manufacturer might say that your mattress didnt fully expand because you left it in the box for too long.
