Cocoon Chill By Sealy
This boxed mattress from Cocoon by Sealyan offshoot of the well-known mattress brandhas a medium-firm feel with a tiny bit of bounce. Its three layers of foam, including a support layer, comfort foam, and memory foam, are topped with a polyester and cotton cover that purports to have cooling properties. Our testerusually a back or side sleeperfound that the top layer conformed to her body with enough support from the firmer layer below to prevent uncomfortable pressure in areas like the hips. The cooling layer seemed to fulfill its claims. Lab tests show it retained minimal, but not zero, heat. Our tester, who tends to sleep hot, thought the mattress felt cozy, not cloying, and doesnt think this is a deal-breaker.
Our tester found the mattress comfortable and supportive when she slept on her side, but sometimes woke up with discomfort in her lower back, which indicates it isnt quite as sufficient for that sleeping position. She also woke up on her stomach a few times , and thought it felt comfortable like this, so its probably a fine option for stomach sleepers, too.
Mattress materials: Three layers of foam support layer, comfort foam, and memory foamand a cooling cloth cover.
Delivery and packaging: Front-door drop-off. A queen arrives in a cardboard box that weighs about 75 pounds.

What Is A Bed In A Box Mattress
First things first, what is a bed in a box mattress? Well, although it doesnt deliver the entire bed the concept of a bed in a box is pretty straightforward. Many companies now ship their mattresses folded up in boxes or reinforced plastic coverings, for new users to simply open at home. The mattress will then unfurl and expand to its full size. This makes the delivery process easier, because theres no need to drag a fully sized mattress into your bedroom.
In most cases, a bed in a box mattress is made possible by memory foam. Memory foam is the miracle product of mattress companies right now, offering varying density levels and support for back and side sleepers of all weights. Because it can be compressed, its also possible to ship memory foam mattresses in a box fairly easily, which is one of the major pros of a bed in a box mattress.

How To Unbox Your Bed
Some mattress companies offer white glove service to unpack and set up your new bed-in-a-box. Many buyers avoid the additional fee that comes with this service by setting up the mattress themselves.
Because even a partially expanded bed-in-a-box can be heavy and cumbersome, most manufacturers recommend taking it to your bedroom before unboxing it. Place the mattress on the box spring or platform before removing the plastic packaging. The expansion will begin immediately as the mattress regains air pressed out during the compression process. A bed-in-a-box can take up to two days to fully expand, though many expand in less time.

Considering A Bed In A Box Here Are The Pros And Cons
Selecting and buying a new mattress is a serious undertaking. After all, you spend about a third of your life on your mattress, so it needs to be comfortable, supportive, and long-lasting.
Traditionally, buying a new mattress means visiting furniture and mattress stores, lying down on different models, crossing your fingers that youve chosen the right one, and hoping it will be comfortable for longer than 15 minutes at a time. Over the last few years, though, youve likely noticed a sudden influx of companies selling whats come to be known as a bed in a box. Unlike traditional mattresses, which are sold and delivered in ready to sleep form, a bed in a box is just that: a mattress made of memory foam, compressed and rolled up so it can be shipped and delivered in a box. When it arrives on your doorstep, you simply need to unroll it and wait for it to reinflate. Then, voila! You have a bed.
Although traditional innerspring mattresses still account for the lions share of the $15 billion mattress market, the bed-in-a-box market is quickly gaining ground. Between 2014 and 2019, the percentage of direct-to-consumer sales as part of the overall mattress industry doubled from 6% to 12%, and it will likely continue to grow. The question is, though, is this type of mattress right for you? Here are some pros and cons to consider.
