How Firm Is The Casper Mattress
Now that weve got a solid overview of the Casper mattress, lets talk about how it feels, starting with firmness.
Like any feel factor, firmness is quite subjective, and can change a lot depending on ones body type and preferred sleeping positions. Therefore, my read of this beds firmness could very well differ from your own. For reference, Im about 510, 190 lbs. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.
After rolling around on the bed, I decided to give the Casper a 7 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, its clear that this bed is slightly firm.
The mattress got a 7 from me because I think its got a firmly supportive feel. Though the foam materials are soft to the touch and provide some nice relief at the shoulders and hips, the overall design works to lift the sleeper up and out of the structure. This creates more of an on top of the bed feel, which could work great for back and combination sleepers.
I also want to mention that the Casper is zoned for support. This means it uses firmer foams at the lower back for extra lift, and softer foams at the shoulders for extra cushion around those pressure points. This combo is especially nice for any sleepers suffering from lower back or shoulder pain, because it will help keep the spine in a healthy alignment without creating stiffness in the shoulder area.

The newest Casper Original is now the fourth version that Mattress-Reviews.com has tested over three years. It also marks the brands first release since Casper Sleep became a publicly traded company in early 2020.
Along with an entirely new look, the latest offering introduced a notable change to the beds overall construction. Casper Original now has fewer layers, a softer overall feel, and has lost an inch from its total height. Despite the difference in size and composition, the price remains the same, selling at $1,495 CAD for a queen.
As competition increases for bed-in-a-box brands in Canada and the U.S., newer brands like Douglas are offering quality mattresses for increasingly affordable prices. Starting on the Casper Element mattress, we are feeling a good balance of comfort and support when we are back sleeping. Side sleeping, we are feeling a significant amount of pressure on our shoulders and hips. Stomach sleeping, the mattress is giving us a decent amount of support under our hips, so we arent bowing in there.
Back sleeping on the Casper, we are feeling a better balance of comfort and support, mostly due to the Zoned Support system in the second layer . Side sleeping, we are feeling a bit of pressure on our shoulders and hips, but less than we felt on the Casper Element. Stomach sleeping, the Casper Original is not a bad match for us, but primary stomach sleepers might want something more supportive overall.
On the Casper Nova Hybrid, we are feeling even better support when we are back sleeping. The more advanced zoning and addition of coils are ensuring we get support and comfort in the right areas. Moving to our sides, the mattress also feels softer than the Element and Original and we are feeling better pressure relief on our shoulders and hips. Stomach sleeping, we again need more support under our hips, and we are bowing in at our centers.
