Sleep Number makes one modular base and three different adjustable bases for their mattresses: FlexFit 1, FlexFit 2 and FlexFit 3.
Note: A Sleep Numbers modular or adjustable base is not the only base that works with a Sleep Number mattress. All one needs to have is a flat and sturdy surface for the mattress or the individual may potentially void his or her warranty.
How To Put A Sleep Number Bed Together

Sleep Number Adjustable Bed Warranties And Trial
Sleep Numbers FlexFit adjustable beds are warrantied by Leggett & Platt to the original purchaser of the product. The adjustable bed base comes with a full two-year warranty against defects in workmanship or materials.
Youll also get a limited five-year warranty that replaces any adjustable bed base found to be defective. Finally, youll get a 25-year limited warranty which will replace any adjustable bed base part found to be defective. The 25-year warranty excludes electronics, electrical components, drive motors and massage motors.
Sleep Number offers a 100-night free trial for its mattresses so you can see if your body adjusts to the new mattress. If you arent happy with your purchase, return the mattress within the 100-day window. Shipping costs apply. The free trial is 30 days for Sleep Number adjustable bed frames.

Sleep Number Flexfit Adjustable Bases
FlexFit 1: The FlexFit 1 is the most basic Sleep Number base. It allows you to raise the head of your bed, making it a great option if youre someone who likes to read or watch TV in bed before hitting the hay.
These start at $999.99 for a Twin XL and go up to $2,099.99 for a King.
FlexFit 2: This base gets a little more technical. You can raise the head andfoot of your bed. You can also gently raise your partners head if he or she starts snoringthis is available only for FlexTop King and Split King sizes. The movement of the base also provides a special zero-gravity feel, as if youre weightlessly floating versus being abruptly moved. Lastly, you can set a timer so the bed automatically returns to your favorite sleeping position at a certain point in the morning or night.

FlexFit 3: The FlexFit 3 adjustable base includes all the bells and whistles of the FlexFit 2. It also includes massage feature, under-bed lighting, and a foot warming feature

Note: These are all prices for the traditional bed base. Sleep Number also includes a Silhouette option, which is an optional upholstered surrounding for the base. If you get a traditional base, you will be able to see the base legs, so Sleep Number recommends buying a bed skirt if you want to keep them covered. With the Silhouette option, prices go up roughly $600.

Deflate The Air Chambers
To deflate the air chambers, press the down arrow on the hand-held controller. If your bed has a dual-system, hold the right or left button simultaneously with the down arrow button. The display reading zero would mean that all the air is out of the chambers. The Sleep Number remote would always be the best way to fill or air out your air chambers. If you lost your remote, you could do this via the SleepIQ app. Otherwise, you can call customer service and order a replacement remote or purchase one from online stores.
Similar to inflating the air chambers , remember that you can only deflate them one at a time. It only takes about 5-7 minutes to air out the air chambers. Stepping or sitting on them while they are letting air out will speed up the process. But be careful not to puncture or damage them.

Getting A Firmness Level
If youve bought a Sleep Number bed, one of the first things you will do is to set up the Firmness Control System. To do so, you need to open the mattress cover and feed the Firmness Control System hoses through the opening. You may have to push the hoses in place or feed them through an opening. After connecting the hoses, youll be ready to assemble your Sleep Number bed.

Core Line 15 Year Limited Warranty
In a nutshell, Sleep Number will repair or replace your c2 or c4 bed if theres a defect that wasnt caused by human error. In other words, if something wrong happens to the bed that was due to a production error, thats on the Sleep Number crew. This will be completely covered for the first two years.
From year 3-15 of the limited warranty, you will become responsible to pay for a portion of the repair and replacement cost. Sleep Number calculates the exact amount based on the then-current prices of each product. This warranty also covers the Firmness Control system that is a part of the mattress.
360 Smart Bed 15 Year Limited Warranty
Most of the same rules apply for the 360® smart bed warranty. Additionally, any tech-related issues that arise that are related to defects in materials or workmanship with the SleepIQ module will be covered. However, after two years, nothing related to SleepIQ will be covered.

This modular bed base is a standard base that is designed to be both sturdy and durable. Sleep Number says it will last 20 years or more and prevent sagging in the mattress. It is also easy to get through narrow spaces and set up in smaller rooms so it could be ideal for apartment living.
FlexFit 1:
Raises the head of the bed one remote will control the elevation of the bed and adjust the Sleep Number in the same device.
FlexFit 2:
The most popular FlexFit Base. It raises the head of the bed like the FlexFit 1 and offers the following additional features:
- A Zero Gravity option that raises the head and foot in a way that leaves the sleeper feeling weightless

How Do I Find My Sleep Number
A Sleep Number can be determined either before or after purchasing a Sleep Number bed. It will really all come down to what feels right to the individual.
Those who want to know their number before purchasing a mattress, they can visit their closest Sleep Number store and have a sales representative walk them through the process. At the store, the person will rest on a Sleep Number bed and they will inflate/deflate the floor model till they find a comfortable spot.
After purchasing a Sleep Number bed and having it delivered and set up, individuals can use the remote it comes with to start determining their Sleep Number. The higher the number the firmer the mattress will be. When there are two air chambers, each person can adjust the amount of air in their air chamber based on their personal preference.

Set Up The Firmness Control System
Before setting up the Firmness Control System and connecting it to the air chambers, ensure that it is located correctly inside or outside your bed base. For elevated bases or bases with legs, it should sit inside the first section of the base. For bases sitting on the floor, the system should be outside the base at the head of your bed. As a precautionary measure, you should plug the Firmness Control System into a surge protector this is to guarantee that your air control unit and electronics are protected from damage from a power surge or a lightning strike.
TIP: The manufacturers recommendation is to use a surge protector listed to UL® 1449 with a clamping voltage of 330 volts and a joule rating of 700 or higher. Similarly, note that the Sleep Number bed 20-year Limited Warranty does not cover damage to the Firmness Control System caused by a power surge, regardless of the source.
Owner Review Feedback For Sleep Number Mattresses
Sleep Number mattresses are typically purchased directly from Sleep Number, so thats where we found the majority of the online reviews. Out of the 34 good-quality negative user reviews we collected about the Classic Series , 10 contained complaints about issues related to a lack of cushioning. This included reviewers describing the mattress as too firm, too thin, bottoming out, or having poor pressure relief. Several reviewers pointed out that the c series is especially problematic for heavier-weight sleepers, and others noted the support felt better once they added a mattress topper.
For negative feedback on the Performance Series, we found far fewer complaints related specifically to the mattress thinness . But four out of 26 good-quality negative Innovation Series reviews noted that the mattresses were too firm or offered poor pressure relief. Perhaps this is to be expected, given that these users paid much more for their mattresses and therefore expected more. Three out of the six Cooling Memory Foam owners complained that their mattresses were either too thin, too firm, or lacked pressure relief.
