Think of warranties only to cover structural problems. Warranties do not cover damages that the customer caused. How To Make A Valid Warranty Claim
The most important thing that you need to realize about the Beautyrest mattress warranty is that its only valid if you use a solid, supportive foundation or frame. According to the warranty terms, the company recommends that you use a new Simmons or Beautyrest-branded frame with your mattress to maximize its lifespan. This isnt a requirement, however. Any type of foundation is acceptable as long as it meets the warranty guidelines.
According to Beautyrest the foundation you use should have solid support around the head, center, and sides. If your Beautyrest mattress is a queen or larger, then the foundation should have at least five slats made from hardwood or metal, with legs on located on the middle slats for support. Its really important that your foundation meets these requirement or your warranty may be voided.
If the space between the slats is greater than two inches, then you should add a stable platform made out of plywood, hardboard, or particle board for extra support. If you dont add the stable platform and your foundation has gaps that are more than two inches in-between slats, then your limited warranty will be void.
Like most warranties in the mattress industry, the Beautyrest mattress warranty is non-transferable. If you purchased your Beautyrest mattress secondhand or from an unauthorized retailer, then the company will not allow you to make a claim under any circumstances.

Specifically, it covers sagging or body indentations on the surface of your mattress. The depth of sagging or indentations covered depends on the warranty code carried by your mattress:
- Codes A, B, H, I, J, K, M, N: 1.5-inch indentations or deeper
- Codes E, L, O, P: 0.75-inch indentations or deeper

What Is Excluded From Warranty Coverage
The Beautyrest mattress warranty excludes certain types of damage from coverage. As with most other brands, you cant make a warranty claim for personal comfort or firmness preferences. If you decide that your Beautyrest mattress isnt comfortable enough, you cant make a warranty claim. However, Simmons Bedding Company does offer a 100-night sleep trial on all Beautyrest mattresses. You can return your mattress for a refund or replacement for any reason during the trial period, so this is the time to decide if your new purchase meets your sleeping preferences.
The warranty excludes the normal softening of the memory foam or other materials over time. Normal wear and tear and damage that doesnt affect the performance of the mattress is not covered. Body indentations are not covered unless they exceed the depth specified using the warranty code on the law label attached to your mattress.
You cant make a warranty claim for damaged handles, border, or grid wires unless you buy a Beautyrest mattress with a removable cover.
Like the warranties offered by other brands, you cant make a warranty claim for spills or accidental damage. Problems caused by misuse or improper care are also excluded from the Beautyrest mattress warranty. We highly recommend buying a mattress protector to help avoid accidental damage to your new purchase.
Beautyrest Black Original Construction And Design

Lets talk construction. The Black Original from Beautyrest is a 13 mattress. Its a hybrid bed, so you get multiple layers of foam and a supportive pocketed coil base. Lets take a closer look at the layers that make up this bed:
- T3 pocketed coils with edge support reinforcements: Each coil in the Black Original bed is individually encased. There are BeautyEdge reinforced springs around the edge of the bed that give it really durable edges.
- 1/2 Plush Comfort Foam: The top layer of the Beautyrest Black bed is a plush layer of foam. When you lay on it, this layer cradles around you.
- 1 Medium Comfort Foam: This layer is slightly firmer than the one above it, but it still provides ample pressure relief.
- 1 1/2 Energy Foam: The polyfoam layer is specifically targeted to help distribute the weight of heavier sleepers.
- 1/2 Beautyrest Gel Memory Foam: The layer of foam before the coils is a firm layer of gel memory foam. The gel is supposed to help move heat away from you while you sleep.
- Antimicrobial HeiQ V-Block cover: Sadly, the cover of this bed is not removable. Youll need to spot clean as needed.

What Are The Different Types Of Mattress Warranties
As a general rule, mattress warranties tend to fall into one of the following categories:
- Prorated warranties. Under this arrangement, consumers are responsible for paying a certain percentage of the cost of repairing or replacing the mattress. This percentage typically gets larger as time goes on.
- Non-prorated warranties. In this case, you would not be responsible for paying any portion of the repair or replacement costs during the designated warranty period.
- Combination warranties. In many cases, a warranty might include both types. For example, your mattress might be covered by a non-prorated warranty for the first few years after its purchase, and then a prorated warranty for the rest of the warranty period.
What The Beautyrest Warranty Does Not Cover
Simmons notes that they are not liable for incidental or consequential damages from using your mattress or foundation. They specifically list the following issues not covered under their warranty:
- The mattress is not quite the firmness you desire, or otherwise does not meet your comfort preference
- The mattress develops normal body impressions or other changes from normal use, including the feel or recovery time of high density foams

- There are damages in the cover, fabric, corner guards, or handles from normal use
- Your mattress develops a bent border/grid wires

- Mattresses or foundations sold as floor models, samples, or secondhand
- Claims not made in the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands
