The academic life didn’t sit particularly well with Mike Lindell. According to CNBC, he attended the University of Minnesota in 1979 while working two jobs, but only stayed there for a quarter: “I felt like I was just wasting my time,” he said. The daily grind wasn’t quite his thing, either, considering he was fired from a gig at a grocery store. Lindell didn’t get along well with the manager, who said something that may have jiggered a latent entrepreneurial spirit in the man: “Well, Mike,” he allegedly said, “If you don’t like it here, maybe get your own company someday.”
Indeed, after several failed attempts to do just that, Lindell ultimately found massive success with MyPillow, and he thinks that success was all part of God’s master plan: “The only way that we were able to do that was divine intervention,” he said. Lindell has since returned the favor by co-founding LIGHTBEAMedia, “a contemporary Christian content provider” that offers cinematic fare such as Heaven, How I Got Here: A Night with the Thief on the Cross. That hour-long drama stars Stephen Baldwin as a thief who dies on a crucifix several feet away from Jesus Christ. Baldwin claims none of his prior performances have “so personally impacted me.” This presumably includes his turn in The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.
Two Voting System Companies Have Sued Lindell And My Pillow
Lindell and his My Pillow company are being sued for defamation by two different voting systems companies over his continued claims that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from former President Donald Trump.
Last year, Dominion Voting Systems filed a $1.3 billion lawsuit against Lindell and My Pillow for his claims of voter fraud with their machines. Dominion representatives say they made two attempts to caution Lindell about his false claims. Still, he continued his accusations, including releasing a video that featured “numerous red flags and flaws in the fake evidence.”
“Despite repeated warnings and efforts to share the facts with him, Mr. Lindell has continued to maliciously spread false claims about Dominion, each time giving empty assurances that he would come forward with overwhelming proof,” Dominion CEO John Poulos said in a Feb. 2021 statement.
Poulos also said, “These claims have caused irreparable harm to Dominion’s good reputation and threatened the safety of our employees and customers. Moreover, Mr. Lindell’s lies have undermined trust in American democracy and tarnished the hard work of local election officials.”
This past January, the voting technology company Smartmatic took similar action and filed a lawsuit against Lindell and My Pillow for Lindell’s “persistent, deliberate, and damaging lies about Smartmatic regarding the 2020 Presidential election.”
Walmart Pulls Mypillow Products From Stores
Walmart said it pulled MyPillow products from its stores as the pillow companys founder and CEO Mike Lindell continues to falsely claim the 2020 presidential election was rigged against former President Trump.
A Walmart spokesperson confirmed the products removal after Lindell posted a series of live videos on his Facebook page in which he talked about the decision in interviews with conservative podcasters.
While we are no longer carrying them in stores, MyPillow products continue to be available on Walmart.com, a Walmart spokesperson told The Hill.
In a livestream Lindell posted on Thursday of him speaking with Steve Bannon for an episode of Bannons War Room, the MyPillow CEO said the removal would be a $10 million hit to his company.
He also told Bannon the company was spending $500,000 a week on television advertising, adding that he offered to lower the price of MyPillow products for Walmart.
In a separate interview Lindell livestreamed on Wednesday, he said Walmart was canceling him.
You guys are canceling us just like the other box stores, Lindell said he had told a Walmart executive. Shame on you, Walmart. Youre disgusting.

Where The Money Went
Lindell has a net worth of about $50 million, according to data from website Celebrity Net Worth. Lindell’s crusade to make changes to the election system has weighed on his company’s revenue, he said. MyPillow lost $80 million in sales after retailers pulled his products off the shelves over his election claims, Lindell said.
Lindell said the $25 million he spent so far on his effort to fight the legal election results went in part toward what he says are lawyers, cyber investigators and his cyber symposium earlier this year.
He also said money went toward a network of organizations aligned with his stance on the election.
Lindell recently discussed this network of groups, called Cause of America, on his online channel Lindell TV. Leaders of another organization with similar stances on the 2020 election, called the U.S. Election Integrity Plan, appear next to Lindell during their announcement in a video discussing their new plans.
“We are in 44 states now. We’re doing canvassing efforts. I’ll give an example. In Florida, we canvassed 10,000 people’s names, and 2,600 of them were phantom voters,” Lindell told CNBC. “Phantom voter” is a term used to describe a ballot allegedly cast by a dead person.

Lindell has maintained that fraud led to President Donald Trump’s losing the election in November. He has used his Twitter account, where he has nearly 474,000 followers, and the MyPillow account to specifically spread falsehoods that machine voter fraud led to President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
Claims of voter fraud have been widely rejected.

MyPillow was dropped from the retailers’ shelves and sites after lawyers for Dominion Voting Systems, one of the biggest election equipment manufacturers in the U.S., sent a letter to Lindell threatening legal action if he did not retract his defamatory accusations and issue an apology after accusing Dominion of election fraud and stealing “millions of votes.”
“Your smear campaign against Dominion has been relentless, and you have leveraged your significant social media following to inflict the maximum amount of damage to Dominions good name and business operations,” said the Jan. 8 letter.
Powell has not responded to repeated requests for comment.

MyPillow founder Lindell said he has lost $65million in revenue this year because of mass boycotts over his ongoing claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

Twitter Permanently Suspends Mypillow Ceo For Election Misinformation
The MyPillow Twitter account was suspended after Lindell attempted to use it when his own personal account was banned over false claims. Twitter confirmed to NBC news on Monday that the corporate account was removed for a violation of Twitters ban evasion policy.
Lindell did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News.

In White House meetings with Trump and public appearances, Lindell has promoted the toxic plant extract oleandrin as a cure for COVID-19, saying, “This thing works â it’s the miracle of all time.” In a television appearance, Lindell made a misleading statement about the testing of the substance. Lindell has a financial stake in Phoenix Biotechnology, a company that makes oleandrin, and sits on its board. Lindell’s unsubstantiated claims alarmed scientists, since there is no scientific evidence that oleandrin is a safe or effective coronavirus treatment, and there is evidence the plant is poisonous at low doses. After the efforts by Lindell and U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban DevelopmentBen Carson to promote oleandrin, Trump said his administration would “look at” the substance.

NEW YORK The founder and CEO of MyPillow, who amplified President Donald Trumps claims of election fraud, said a backlash against his company has begun after a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol this month.
Mike Lindell, who appears in TV commercials hugging the companys foam-filled pillows, said major retailers like Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohls have dropped his products recently.
Both companies confirmed the decision to cease carrying the brand Tuesday, but cited flagging sales rather than Lindells actions or his support for Trump.
There has been decreased customer demand for MyPillow, Kohls said in an email.
Lindell has continued to push bogus claims of election fraud since Trumps loss to President-elect Joe Biden in the presidential race. MyPillows logo was also prominently featured on TrumpMarch.com, a website that promoted the Jan. 6 events in Washington, in which rioters stormed the Capitol.

An ongoing buy one get one free deal from MyPillow may seem like a win for consumers, but according to the Better Business Bureau, its actually misleading.
The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota revoked the accreditation of Minnesota-based MyPillow based on consumer complaints, ongoing buy one get one free deals, and a false advertising lawsuit.
According to the Better Business Bureau, the makers of MyPillow were repeatedly asked to discontinue their buy one get one free offers to no avail.
But whats the problem with ongoing BOGO offer?
We talked to Barb Grieman, Senior Vice President of the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota to find out.
Whats wrong with an ongoing buy one get one free offer?
Grieman said MyPillow advertised a $89.97 BOGO sale, but the sale was ongoing.
When you make a BOGO a continuous offer, it becomes a regular price of the product, Grieman said. So, you cant offer that sale price for more days during a year, than you do the regular price.
She said many consumers also complained that MyPillow offered a buy one get one free deal for $89.97 on its website, but a single MyPillow was available for $49.99 online at other retailers.
She said MyPillow was accredited with the BBB and had an A-plus rating, until recently.
What exactly does the BBB do?
She said the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota was the first BBB in the world.
Mypillow Products Will No Longer Be Sold By These Companies
Mike Lindell, the CEO of My Pillow, has said that several companies have stopped selling his products following his continued pushing of baseless allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 election.
Lindell, an ardent supporter of President Donald Trump, has repeatedly and falsely claimed that Trump did not lose the election and will stay in office for a second term.
His continued push of these false narratives, even after the deadly assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, prompted calls on social media for retailers to stop carrying MyPillow products.
In interviews this week, Lindell said Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl’s, H-E-B and Wayfair are all dropping MyPillow. “They’re trying to cancel me out,” Lindell told the Right Side Broadcasting Network’s Brian Glenn in a lengthy interview on Monday.
“I just got off the phone with Bed Bath & Beyond. They’re dropping MyPillow. Just got off the phone not five minutes ago. Kohl’s, all these different places,” he said.
“These guys don’t understand… they’re scared, like a Bed Bath & Beyond, they’re scared. They were good partners. In fact, I told them, ‘You guys come back anytime you want.'”
Lindell later confirmed to Fox 9 that Wayfair and H-E-B have also severed ties with MyPillow.
He said the companies were acting in response to social media campaigns he claimed were being perpetrated by “leftist groups.”
Lindell, Kohl’s, Wayfair and H-E-B have been contacted for comment.
