Both are made with organic and recycled materials like wool, cotton, latex, and steel coils. Its when you examine how these materials are assembled that the mattresses differ.
The Avocado Eco Organic mattress is 10 inches in height, whereas the Green mattress is 11-13 inches tall. The Green mattress has significantly more pocketed coils and a 3-5-inch thick layer of latex . The extra latex adds extra cushion while a higher number of individually wrapped coils minimizes motion transfer and offers increased pressure relief.
While I think the increased height of the mattress may sway buyers, the most important thing to consider is the firmness scale and the price. The Eco Organic mattress is a 5 on the firmness scale, while the Green mattress rates at a 7. If you wanted the Green mattress but didnt want it as firm, youd have to add the pillow top option for a significant fee.
For those who want a supportive, cozy mattress, the Eco Organic mattress is the way to go. I doubt that youd be able to notice most of the differences between the two mattresses. Did I mention its also $600 cheaper than the Green mattress?! I love a firm mattress, so I understand the appeal of the Green mattress. However, I didnt find the Eco Organic to be too soft. It was bouncy and buoyant, for sure, but very supportive.

Made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton and hand-tufted with up to 32 rosettes, the non-removable covers for both of Avocados mattresses are free from glue, fire retardants, and other chemicals. The color is a creamy off-white with green piping and green upholstered handles.
Comfort Layers
Beneath the cover, youll find the primary difference between the Avocado Green and Vegan mattresses: a layer of organic wool in the Green, and a layer of organic cotton in the Vegan.
- Avocado sources their GOTS-certified wool from a collective the company co-owns with its farmers. As a natural material, wool provides natural temperature control and superior moisture-wicking qualities. It is also naturally fire-retardant.
- GOTS-certified organic cotton provides many of the same qualities as wool, allowing for airflow and moisture control while adding softness. However, it is not quite as long-lasting as wool.
In mattresses with the optional pillow-top, the wool or cotton layer is followed by 2 inches of GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex, in addition to the 2 inches already present in the comfort layer of all Avocado mattresses. The pillow-top is made from softer latex than the comfort layer, with an indentation load deflection of 14 to 19. You have a full year to try out the Avocado Green mattress. You may initiate a return right up to day 365 during your trial period. You dont have to pay for the return. Avocado will recycle or donate the mattress. You will be given a full refund. Just know you should always try out a new mattress for at least 30 days before making a decision to keep it or send it back. It takes that long for your body to adjust to a new surface and for you to know if you feel comfortable on that surface.
Additionally, the Avocado Green has a 25-year warranty for the person who actually bought the mattress, i.e. the original buyer. You must open the box it comes in within two weeks. You should use the mattress to sleep on, i.e. use it as intended. There are other fun terms written into the warranty that you should acquaint yourself with.

Avocado is a hybrid that is compressed, shipped, and delivered in a box, and the mattress includes two heavy-duty handles on each side for ease of installation and positioning. It works on a variety of frames and bases, including adjustable, and the company recommends a sturdy foundation due to the mattress weight.
The cover features organic cotton that is soft and breathable. Under the cotton is natural wool. This material wicks away moisture and helps with temperature control. In addition, wool is naturally antimicrobial and resistant to dust mites.
