My Helix Mattress Recommendation
The Helix mattress has a great range of firmness and even on the firm setting will provide good pressure relief. The pocket coils provide a subtle pushback that will give you the support you need.

Below is a picture of how much the mattress will sink. As you can see the left side is considerably firmer than the right.
This mattress does a great job with motion transfer and also temperature regulation. Looking at the photo below youll notice that the right side looks a bit different in terms of pattern color. In the survey I asked for my side to be cooler than my wifes side. You can see that there is some sort of cooling gel layer that was added to my side to accommodate this need.

Should You Buy The Helix Midnight Mattress

What’s In A Helix Plus Mattress
Overall, we classify the Helix mattress as a “Foam over Pocketed Coils” construction type. It isa 12 thick mattress comprised of 5 total layers :

- 1″ polyurethane transition foam

The Helix Plus mattress has three one-inch layers of comfort foam on top the middle foam layer is a gel memory foam, though there’s not enough of it to give the mattress that slow melting feeling memory foam is known for. The main story is the bed’s pocketed coil unit. We were especially impressed with its stronger/smaller coils around the perimeter of the bed, which provide super-sturdy edge support while not impeding air flow.
Finally, at the bottom of the mattress is a small layer of foam, serving as a base for the coil unit.

Helix Midnight Mattress: What We Didn’t Like
- Some irregular stitching on one side
- Edge support could be sturdier
We couldnt find much to err over with this comfortable mattress, although its worth being aware that Helix mattress dimensions can vary by up to one-inch on either side because all the company’s mattresses are handmade.
This didnt cause any performance issues with our Helix Midnight review mattress, but as a minor cosmetic complaint, we did notice an area of irregular stitching on one of the sides. There were 12 inches of bunched-up fabric that werent as smooth as the three other sides.
We also felt that edge support – while adequate – could be marginally better for sitting on the side of the bed for longer periods of time. For sleeping, though, edge support was fine. We dont have any complaints about sagging edges or rolling off while we slept.
