Is Your Mattress Too Firm
IKEA mattresses are generally quite firm
This is great for heavier-weight sleepers but can be quite uncomfortable for lighter-weight or average-weight sleepers.
If you already have an IKEA mattress and want to make it more comfortable, we’d recommend investing in a mattress topper.
Mattress toppers are pads of extra material that you place on top of your mattress
These offer greater comfort and are used to make firmer mattresses feel softer – but we’d steer clear of IKEA mattress toppers.
Our favourite mattress toppers:

Are Ikea Beds Comfortable
This is a funny question, right? Mattresses are like coffee orders everyone has their opinion on what the best kind is and they stick to it. The point is, everybody is different, and when it comes to sleeping, it can be a very personal choice for what people find comfortable. IKEA is well known for selling furniture and home goods at more affordable prices, and this is true with its mattresses as well. They are on par with their competitors, and youre getting a reputable company with it. If you have an IKEA in your local area, go check out their mattresses in-store and see for yourself!

Worst Mattress Ever
I had bought firm Hesseng Pocket Sprung Mattress from Ikea in June this year, and ever since facing back issues. It’s not only me, but my wife as well as her parents everyone in my family is experiencing back pains. Even an employee from Ikea told me that she too faced the same back problem. Additionally, my friend who bought the same mattress too faced the same issue. But Ikea is not ready to accept this. All they are saying is that the mattress can be swapped only once as per your comfort level. But what do I swap it with? This is apparently the best mattress in Ikea. For the past one month, I am sleeping on a rug happily and I wake up without any pain. And my family is sleeping on the other bed. Overall, we have a $800 big junk lying on our bed 🙁
Nice matures but show room ones feel much more comfortable
Does not feel anything like the ones in store although only had for one night hope it softens up a bit more I may have to buy a topper as well although the ones in store were very comftable with out topper just have to wait a few more days and see
Great mattress, firm just as described.
Simply good quality at a good price.
Simply excellent quality at a good price. After my last terrible experince spending too much money on a horrendous Harvey Norman, King Beard, I cant recomend this highly enough. Agree with comments below. No smell and super coooomfotable.
The worst mattress ever!
A great mattress

Can One Person Lift A Treadmill
If the treadmill has wheels, you can roll it as far as possible on the same level without using a dolly or folding the treadmill. Heres how to do this: Have one person stand at each end of the treadmill. One person will grip the upright bars, and the other will grab the underneath side of the belt section.
How Long Can You Leave An Ikea Mattress Rolled Up
IKEA recommends that you unroll your mattress as soon as you can as the rolling method means it will take up to 72 hours to expand to its full size and comfort again.
While you can leave an IKEA mattress rolled up, this may extend the time it takes to expand once unrolled.
For memory foam mattresses, you should not leave them rolled up any longer than 2 months otherwise the material could become damaged.

Mattress Value In The Same Price Range
A mattress that is in the same price range as most of the Ikea lines is the Amerisleep AS1 . This plant-based memory foam mattress receives great customer reviews and is eco-friendly. Customers report less odors and off-gassing, likely as a result of the natural materials.
The AS1 costs $999 for a queen. Amerisleep has an entire line of plant-based memory foam mattresses available at Amerisleep.com. Every mattress is wrapped in a soft, breathable fabric designed to keep air flowing throughout the mattress to prevent overheating.
Are Ikea Mattresses Any Good
If youre skeptical about the quality of IKEA mattresses, youre not alone. Many would-be purchasers question the quality not only of IKEA mattresses, but of mattresses made by any company other than established mattress manufacturers. Generally, the answer is that it depends on the specific mattress youre looking at and what you need in a mattress.
For a queen bed, IKEAs mattresses cost anywhere from $229 to $899. Thats quite a price range, and it represents a spectrum of features, from the simplest foam bed to hybrids with integrated pillowtops, gel-activated cooling layers, and mini pocket coils. The cheapest IKEA mattresses may not be any good, depending on your standards, but the more sophisticated ones are.
The best way to determine if IKEA mattresses are worth a look is through research. What features do IKEA mattresses offer? What do purchasers and expert reviewers have to say about the mattress? How durable is it, based on customer reviews, warranty policies and exchange policies?
Most IKEA mattresses have generally positive ratings on the retailers website. Its rare to see a mattress with fewer than three out of five stars, and very common to see four-star and five-star ratings. Even among mattresses with ratings in the three-star range, you will find many glowing reviews. Whats clear is that many purchasers are happy with their beds.

Are Ikea Mattresses Good Then
Even if youve been a bit put off by the mention of complaints about durability, keep in mind that these arent premium quality mattresses. That said, theyll offer a respectable degree of comfort for the average sleeper, provided they arent overweight. Combine this with their excellent returns policy, and youve got a product that provides remarkable bang for the investment it requires.
Drawbacks Of Ikea Mattresses
- They only offer a medium to firm feels.
- The construction method is basic see the bulging discussed further on.
- The durability of the mattresses is low, giving them a short shelf life.
- There is zero tailoring for different bodyweights or comfort preferences.
- Its one size fits all.

Ikea Matrand Mattress Review
- Material: Memory Foam and Latex
- Thickness: 7 1/8
- Other Features: Cotton / poly cover Polypropylene lining Poly / rayon fiber
The memory foam variant of the Matrand series is 7 1/8 thick, and incorporates 3.1 lb/cu.ft. polyurethane memory foam, as well as 1.7 lb/cu.ft. regular polyurethane foam. Supporting the memory foam with a layer of regular foam extends the lifetime of this budget product, and lends it a firm feel that the latex variant cannot achieve with its single 1.7 lb/cu.ft. polyurethane layer.
That said, the 7 1/7 thick latex version will appeal more to sleepers who are particular about heat dissipation and prefer a slightly soft feel on their mattresss surface. Unfortunately, it is only available in Queen size. The memory foam version is available in Twin, Full, Queen and King sizes, and offers far more freedom of choice.
Purchasers have generally been very pleased with the comfort and support offered by these mattresses, and have especially commended its suitability for children. Naturally, given the low price, some complaints about sagging and deformation are to be expected.
- Memory foam for those who want firm, pressure relieving comfort.
- Latex for those who prioritize heat dissipation and a slightly soft feel.
- Works well for both child and adult use.
- Latex version only available in Queen size.
- Some issues with sagging and deformity.
How Long Does An Ikea Mattress Take To Completely Unroll
Before using for the first time, its normal for new mattresses to feel a bit too firm, so you should allow one month for your body to get used to the mattress and for the mattress to get used to your body. New materials also have their own particular smell. We recommend airing the mattress to help eliminate any smell. If you buy a roll packed mattress, you can use it straight away but keep in mind that it takes 34 days of use for them to regain their shape.

Ikea: History And Vision
IKEA is a big-box retailer of household furnishings, founded by Ingvar Kamprad of Sweden in 1951. Today, they have several dozen outlets spread across the United States and also sell some of their merchandise online mattresses included. From the beginning, IKEAs focus has been the provision of an affordable range of home furnishing products to the masses, to improve their quality of life.
How To Improve The Ikea Mattress
Initially I bought the firm Hesseng mattress because the reviews looked pretty good for it however it proved to be far to firm on my slatted-base bed. It may have been better on less firm bed frame but I returned it anyway and exchanged it for the Hyllestad medium mattress. I found the mattress was a little more comfortable but was still far too firm for me. So if you have a solid, slatted base bed frame, perhaps be wary of your choice from IKEA as they all tend to be firmer. To fix the problem I bought 2 of the single bed spring inserts that I…

Are Ikea Mattresses Safe
Getting enough sleep, and good quality sleep, is so important to your health that its no wonder purchasers worry about the safety of their mattress. Mattress safety can refer to many different aspects of quality, from the materials used to make the mattress to the extent of spinal support. By most standards, yes, IKEA mattresses are very safe.
The core of IKEA mattresses are steel coils or foams. While some IKEA spring mattresses use rows of connected, hourglass-shaped Bonnell coils, every spring mattress on our list uses individual fabric-encased pocket coils that move independently for better contouring and support. The best IKEA spring mattresses have a generous layer of foam or soft filling that cushions the support coils.
IKEAs memory foam is made of polyurethane ranging in density from 1.5 lb./cu.ft. to 3.1 lb./cu.ft. Most latex IKEA mattresses are made with synthetic latex. Some mattresses incorporate gel into the memory foam for a cooler sleep surface.
Although theres nothing inherently unsafe about synthetic materials, some sleepers prefer the experience of sleeping on a bed made with natural materials. IKEA now offers both a spring and a foam mattress made with natural materials that include natural latex, coconut fibers, natural wool fiber fillings, and sustainably-sourced cotton. For asthma and allergy sufferers, natural materials may be less aggravating.
How Are Spring Mattresses Shipped
Packing a spring mattress for storage or travel is similar to packing other mattress kinds. This entails washing and drying the mattress before putting it in the appropriate-size mattress bag. Zinus, on the other hand, attempted to develop a technique for packaging foam-encased innerspring mattresses in order to overcome the constraints of unrolled and unfolded spring beds in terms of transportation and storage space.

Simmons 8 Memory Foam Mattress
The Simmons Foam mattress is a medium firm model with good pressure relief for back sleepers, low motion transfer, and solid edge support. I dont think it offers enough support for stomach sleepers, and side sleepers may find it puts too much pressure on those sensitive joints.
- Best for: Side sleepers, back sleepers
- Not Good for: Stomach sleepers
- Pricing : $249.00
Want to explore every option? I would recommend taking a look at the Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam mattress, which is available on Amazon. The Zinus Green Tea is great for back sleepers, side sleepers, and combination sleepers, and its available in multiple heights. It also offers good pressure relief and motion isolation for couples, all for a very affordable price.
Can You Sleep On An Ikea Mattress Before 72 Hours
Alright, so youve just bought this brand new mattress, and youre excited to sleep on it, but wait! It says it needs 72 hours to expand. I know what youre thinking: Do I really need to wait three days before I can use my new mattress? The answer is no! While IKEA notes that its mattresses need 72 hours to fully expand and take their shape, they are good to use right out of the package.

A Comprehensive Ikea Spring Mattress Review
The most significant advantage of IKEA mattresses is that you can try them out in their stores all over the world, or use the benefits of their free sleep trial period and sleep on them in your home. IKEA spring mattresses are great for back and stomach sleepers, light or average weight people, and sleepers on a budget.
When you think about IKEA, one of the worlds biggest brands in home furnishing, we all know that they are famous for their unique and minimalist product designs. We go there to shop new eye-catching curtains, cushions, bowls, cute home accessories, etc. and the quality is good. Most products are inexpensive and great looking, which is why many people trust the brand.
But how much can we trust one brand, and is it possible that their products have exceptional quality in all categories? Since IKEA produces everything from spoons to mattresses, we were a bit skeptical at first but decided to give them a chance, which is why in todays post, we will be discussing IKEAs innerspring beds.

Ikea Mattress Reviews: Cons
- Some durability concerns
- Exchange-only policy
Although IKEA does have many mattress options, they tend to mostly be firm to medium-firm, and according to Sleep Like The Dead, larger individuals and side sleepers may have difficulty finding a comfortable bed.
There are also potential durability concerns with somewhat higher than average complaints of early sagging or impressions in IKEA mattress reviews, particularly with the innerspring beds.
The other potential negative is that IKEA offers an exchange-only return policy, giving customers 90 days to exchange a mattress one time only. This means you would not be able to get your money back if you end up not liking any other beds in the store.
Benefits Of Ikea Mattresses
- IKEAs price point is really competitive, in part due to their huge scale and buying power. It means they are offering models that are entry-level and midpoint. They dont offer any high end of luxury mattress specifications at all.
- A number of their models can be rolled up due to the limited upholstery, which means they can be cheaply shipped.
- IKEA offers a one-stop-shop, meaning you can literally furnish your entire house in one visit .
- They give you some idea of whats inside the mattresses, unlike other retailers!

What Is The Best Mattress To Buy
The best mattress to buy depends on different factors, such as your sleeping position, preferred material, and budget.
- Sleeping position:
If you are a side sleeper, we recommend a plush or medium firm mattress. A softer mattress shapes itself around the shoulders and hips. At the same time, the mattress provides support for the rest of the body.
For back sleepers, we recommend a firm mattress which prevents the neck and lower back from sinking too deeply into the mattress.
- Preferred material:
Choose from our spring or foam & latex mattresses. Our spring mattresses offer individually wrapped springs that work independently to closely follow your movements and the contours of your body.
Our foam & latex mattresses are soft and resilient, and they spread your body weight evenly to promote restful sleep and better blood circulation.
- Your budget:
We have mattresses to fit every budgetfrom basic mattresses to mattresses made with high quality natural materials. But you can be sure that every one is designed to give you a good nights sleep.
