After sleeping in a queen-size bed with Jon and lets face it sometimes the kids for over 10 years, I was ready for an update. We had purchased that queen mattress right when we got engaged and we will be celebrating 17 years of marriage in January! Wow! For the last 3 years, the mattress was in really bad shape. It had coils and every time I got up it made the most awful noise. My back was aching, I was constantly waking up because I was hot and most nights I ended up way too close to my nightstand because a queen-size mattress is just too small when you have kids. We knew that when the time came to move into the new house we would be splurging and getting a king-size mattress! I’ve never been a big fan of online shopping, especially when it comes to big furniture items. In an unexpected twist, I ended up sleeping on it that night thanks to a head cold that had my children up several times throughout the night needing snuggles. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Nectar mattress is probably a 7 in terms of firmness. While I’m a side sleeper who typically prefers an ultraplush pillow-top mattress, I was impressed by how supported I felt. I slept with one or more of my sick children in our guest room for several nights, and while my new Nectar mattress isn’t as plush as I’d prefer, it was nice to not wake up with aches in my lower back or a stiff neck.
What Does The Nectar Mattress Feel Like
With the three layers of memory foam, the Nectar mattress has a distinct, dense memory foam feel that traditional memory foam is known for. When you lay down on it, the bed slowly contours to your body.
However, its a different memory foam feel than other beds. Its actually firm at first. When you lay down on the bed, you dont immediately sink. You wont get that stuck-in-the-mud feeling when you sleep on it. The foam responds to touch and returns to its original state when the weight is released.

Nectar Memory Foam Mattress Review: What We Didn’t Like
- Removable cover isn’t machine-washable
- Can take a little longer to fully expand
- Some testers found it slightly too firm
One feature we’d have liked to see in the Nectar Memory Foam mattress is a machine-washable cover. Although you can unzip the cover, Nectar advises against removing and machine washing it the Tencel fibres may become damaged if you do. Instead, Nectar recommends spot cleaning any spills with a safe, mild detergent or hand soap. too.)
If that’s a deal breaker, there are brands that have machine washable, removable covers the memory foam Amerisleep AS3 , for example, or anything from Tempur-Pedic. The latter is expensive, so keep an eye out for a Tempur-Pedic mattress sale to bring the price down a little. Both brands let you can remove and machine-wash the covers of their mattresses in a cool cycle.
Nectar Vs Purple Mattress Is Nectar Mattress Worth It
Both Purple and Nectar are popular brands of bed-in-a box mattresses. Both companies offer all-foam mattresses with comparable firmness levels and similar pricing. Their mattresses provide excellent pressure relief and motion isolation.

The Nectar is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means it comes compressed in a box and will take some time to decompress. The Nectar is a memory foam bed that has a 12-inch profile. Its made with CertiPUR-US® Certified foam, which means its free of harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and ozone depleters.
Cover The Nectars mattress cover is a cooling cover made from a quilted polyester/nylon blend. It features heat wicking technology and a soft, breathable feel. Its also removable, which makes washing it super easy.
