Coop Home Goods Eden Pillow Review 2021

Average weight back sleepers will likely feel comfortable with the pillows default firmness level. Side sleepers in this category may want to add a few handfuls of filling for added support. For more information, check out our list of the best pillows for side sleepers.

Stomach sleepers, however, will want to remove a good amount of the filling. This will ensure the neck doesnt crane out of alignment.

Coop Eden Vs Tuft & Needle Pillow

The Eden pillow differs greatly from the Tuft & Needle. First of all, the Coop Eden is a shredded memory foam pillow. The tiny pieces of fiber and foam make the pillow feel similar to down feathers.

The Tuft & Needle pillow, on the other hand, is made out of a thick piece of custom cut responsive foam. It feels squishy and supportive, so its a great fit for side sleepers.

Thanks to Coop Edens adjustability, this pillow will work well for back, side, and stomach sleepers. Both pillows fall in a similar price range, so it ultimately comes down to your pillow feel preferences.

Coop Eden Pillow Vs Coop Original Pillow

  • The Coop Original pillow is a shredded memory foam pillow. The fill is a blend of cross-cut memory foam and microfibers, similar to the Eden. However, the foam is not gel-infused, so it wont be quite as cooling. But the Lulltra cover and shredded fill still make the Coop Original a good choice for hot sleepers.
  • Its also an adjustable pillow, so you can alter the loft to fit you perfectly.
  • Similar to the Eden, the Original has a soft, but supportive feel. It offers quite a bit of contouring and is very huggable.

Is The Coop Eden Pillow Good For Hot Sleepers

Coop Home Goods Eden Pillow Review – The Best Of Foam And Fiber?

The Coop Eden is a solid pick for hot sleepers, thanks to the breathableLulltra cover and the gel memory foam used in the fill.

The Lulltra fabric contains bamboo fibers, which makes the fabric breathable and less heat-trapping. The shredded fill also contributes to breathability, as it allows for more airflow within the pillow, as compared to a solid block of memory foam.

Gel memory foam is a common material used in cooling mattresses and bedding, as gel draws heat away from your body, so itll also help keep you and your pillow cool throughout the night.

The Eden

Initially, yes. Off-gassing is fairly common in memory foam products but normally dissipates within the first few hours. The memory foam used in the Coop Eden pillow is both CertiPUR-US and Greenguard certified. The Downsides Of Coop Home Goods Pillows

The Eden pillow’s filling didn’t wash as well as that of the Original. When I tried to adjust it, I found that it developed cottony strands that clumped around bunches of fill.

Coop Home Goods pillows are far more incredible than not, but they still have a few shortcomings. For one, the company recommends washing the innermost bag and the pillow fill no more than once per year, though the outer casing can be washed more frequently if youd like . Nonetheless, for allergy sufferers or folks who like to frequently wash their pillows, the option to wash the whole thing more often would be preferable.

Finally, like many bedding products made from foam, the Coop Pillows need a bit of time to air out, or off-gas after you open them and before you sleep on them. They werent the most odorous pillows we tested, but it still took both the Original and Eden we tested a couple of days to fully air and stop smelling.

Coop Home Goods Original Pillow Performance Highlights

Pros

  • Support: The Coop Home Goods Original Pillow molds around your neck to fill in any gap areas between you and the mattress without being suffocating.
  • Cooling: Wrapped in a bamboo blend pillowcase, this pillow does a great job of staying cool at night. No need to flip it to the other side!
  • Responsiveness: This pillow does a great job of adjusting to changes in positions at night.
  • Easy Care: The entire pillow is machine washable, and the pillowcase can be washed separately.

Cons

  • Off-Gassing: Some customers have complained of an off-gassing smell when they initially get their pillow, but this should go away in a few days.
  • Heavy: The Coop Home Goods Original Pillow can be a bit heavier than typical down pillows, particularly if you use all the filling in it.
  • Durability: When testing the Coop Home Goods Original Pillow, I noticed some loose threads on the cover and the actual encasement around the pillow is very thin, making it likely to not hold up for a long period.

My Sleep Trial Experiences

As a stomach and side sleeper I typically prefer a softer, shapeable pillow in order to provide the support I need through the night. My regular go to is a down and feather choice, but I like anything that provides a shapeable experience. The Coop Home Goods Brand is one I place high on my list for comfort and quality, and it isnt hard to see why.

Back

I always like to decompress after a long day with a quick stretch on my back. I removed close to half the filling of this pillow for this as a back sleeper needs a pillow that supports their head and neck in alignment with their spine, but still need to be low enough of a profile to keep from raising the head.

I really liked how the gusseted edge and fill tucked up under my neck for support, and the softness of the pillow allowed my head to sink back into it. It was comfortable and relaxing, and provided me a position that I did not have to shift about in to find a comfort zone.

Side

As a combination sleeper that likes to occasionally rest on my side, I kept the pillow thinner in order to be able to bunch it up under my head and neck. This is because I usually roll onto my stomach and partially lay upon the pillow, so I need something I can shape and rest upon to help keep my back stress free when shifting positions through the night.

Coop Home Goods Eden Pillow Review

People of different sleep position preferences and body weights tend to prefer different types of pillows. Since the Original Coop Pillow has an adjustable loft and firmness, it appeals to a variety of sleepers.

Side SleepersSide sleepers tend to find comfort on the Original Coop Pillow. With a 6-inch loft, the pillow is generally thick and firm enough to adequately support the side sleepers head. Side sleepers require a higher loft and firmness to maintain spinal alignment. If a side sleepers pillow is too thin or soft, their head will angle downward, creating pressure points in the neck.

Although nearly all side sleepers rate the Original Coop Pillow highly, side sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds give the pillow a slightly lower rating. Sleepers in this group may want to experiment with removing fill from the pillow to give it a slightly lower loft until they find the ideal firmness and thickness for their needs.

Back SleepersBack sleepers of all body weights rate the Original Coop Pillow highly. The pillow works well for back sleepers because it provides support and firmness while also being moldable and conforming. Back sleepers can lie down and feel like they sink into the pillow.

Stomach sleepers weighing over 130 pounds rate the Original Coop Pillow favorably, finding that it meets their needs. Stomach sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds may want to consider a pillow with a lower starting loft.

Breakdown Of The Cooling Eden Bamboo Adjustable Pillow

The new Eden Model is the top of the line according to the company, and improves upon the original with cooling, gel infused shredded foam. The addition of a gusseted side wall ensures edge-to-edge support and allows for a wider range of comfort positions to be supported. Removable foam and fiberfill is a simple way to increase, or decrease, your pillow profile, and create a softer, or more firm surface to lay your head upon.

The Coop Home Goods Eden Pillow

The Coop Eden pillow is designed with a softer fill, making it ideal for stomach sleepers.

The Eden, in contrast, is filled with a viscoelastic foam and polyester thats softer and more appropriate for stomach sleeping. It lends a squishier and more snuggly feel. The Eden pillow is also accompanied by a half-pound of additional filling that you can use to make the pillow more firm and plump. Unlike the Original, this pillow has a gusset, a wide strip of fabric sewn around the perimeter. This is normally a feature thats better for side sleeping, as it has a tendency to prop up the head more than non-gusseted pillows, but in the Eden, it works just fine for stomach sleeping . Another attribute of the Eden is that it contains cooling gel infused memory foam, but I didnt notice that it was cooler in my sleep tests, nor did our lab tests conclude it dissipates heat any better than the Coop Original.

For my stomach-sleeping tests, I removed just over half of the stuffing to achieve my preferred softness for stomach sleeping, which, admittedly, is very soft. I had so much fill left over that I could easily save it and use it later to completely swap out the contents of my pillowa huge bonus for hygiene.

Coop Home Goods’ pillows ranked highly for back, stomach, and side sleeping.

Common Coop Eden Pillow Complaints

Coop Home Goods Eden Pillow: Cooling Gel Shredded Memory Foam Pillow

Most of the reviews youll find on Amazon are positive, but we did come across a few complaints. Oftentimes, people felt frustrated by the pillows firmness level. When it first arrives, it does feel quite lofty. However, its super easy to adjust the firmness level. All you need to do is take out the filling.

Some people had difficulty reaching one of the Coop Home Goods customer service representatives. If you call during a busy season, you may experience long wait times.

Unboxing The Coop Eden Pillow

Made in the USA, the Coop Eden pillow comes compressed and rolled up with a bag of additional foam fill. After removing the wrapping and allowing the pillow to expand my attention was immediately drawn to the incredibly soft, luxurious feel of the bamboo derived outer case. It has an incredibly satisfying feel and is cool to the touch, which is great considering Coop doesnt recommend using a pillow case.

Almost immediately I was hit by an incredibly strong chemical smell which was even more evident when laying my head on the pillow. This can be fairly common with memory foam but I was quite surprised at the intensity of the off-gassing. Coop Home Goods recommends throwing the pillow in the dryer on low heat for an hour or two with a dryer sheet to help reduce the scent.

That being said, the off-gassing smell seems to be the number one complaint amongst customers and is something to be aware of before purchasing. It does go away but Id even recommend waiting a few nights before properly taking it to bed.
